Frequently asked questions…
Will I need alterations on my dress?
Yes, our dresses are made to order, not made to measure. We take your measurements on the day of your appointments and it’s our policy to recommend and order the standard dress size that is closest to your measurements that day. 99% of brides who buy a dress from us need some kind of alteration to make the dress fit perfectly. We have an experienced seamstress who works out of our store and who can complete a fitting with you and discuss any and all alterations that may need done to your dress. You will be quoted for this on the day of your fitting and you are under no obligation to go ahead with this quote. These appointments are subject to availability and are not available to everyone due to the volume of dresses that leave our store. We can recommend other local seamstresses for you to visit if the in store seamstress does not have availability.
Do I need to book an appointment?
We always advise that you book an appointment to make sure we can see you at your preferred time/date. Walk-ins are also welcome but can only be seen if we have availability at the time. If we are fully booked you would not be able to try on.
Do you charge for appointments?
We take card details for wedding gown appointments but you will not be charged when you book. We ask that you give us 7 days notice to cancel or reschedule. This ensures that we have the appropriate number of staff scheduled and allows us to make sure we have the time and resources to sanitise our fitting rooms between appointments. We have a £25 cancellation fee for bridal appointments cancelled within 7 days of your booking and this would be taken from the card you provide.
How many people can I bring with me?
The number of guests you can bring with you are as below:
Wedding Gown appointment - We can host the bride and up to 4 guests.
If you wish to bring up to 6 guests, we have two slots available on a Thursday at 4.30pm & 6.15pm. These must be booked over the phone to ensure we have the correct fitting room area available.
Collection/Alterations appointment - We can host the bride plus up to 2 guests.
How long do bridal appointments last?
We usually allocate 90 minutes for bridal appointments, but we won’t rush you out of the door! You can try on as many dresses as you like to find the one. Your stylist will help you make the most of your appointment and pull dresses for you to try based on what you like. You will also be able to choose dresses to try on.
What is your price range?
We have gowns to suit most budgets and the prices vary in each of our departments. Our Dress to Order department ranges from £799 to £2,999 whereas all gowns in our Dress Now department are £899 or less. We also have sale dresses available that have been discounted by up to 70% and usually priced between £199 & £699. If you have a specific budget you’d like to stick to, you can let us know when you book your appointment and we’ll work with you to try and find the perfect dress at the right price!
Do I have to pay up front?
We ask for full payment before a gown goes into production. If you need to spread the cost and have time to spare, we can offer a 50% deposit with the remaining 50% due at the end of the following calendar month. This secures your order and ensures our supplier does not run out of fabric/increase the price before your gown goes into production. All payments and deposits are non-refundable for this reason.
We also work with a finance partner called PAYL8R. For more information regarding finance options in store, please visit the PAYL8R website.
What sizes do you stock?
We have gowns available to order in sizes 4-30 and have samples to try on in most sizes, including our Dress your Curves range which has been specifically designed to compliment and enhance your curves.
How far in advance should I order?
Dresses take 4-8 months to arrive in store. If you have the time, we recommend ordering 12 months in advance or more to allow time for alterations, although we can work with shorter time frames and we also sometimes have rush slots available. If you have ordered a super customised dress, this can sometimes take longer but we will advise you best during your appointment. We also have a department called Dress Now full of beautiful gowns ready to take home the same day.
When will I collect my gown?
We will give you an estimate when you order, this is usually when we expect your gown to be ready to collect. This is just an estimate though and your dress could arrive sooner or later than this date. When your beautiful gown is ready, we will call you to arrange a collection appointment where you will try your gown on before taking it home. Collection appointments are available five days per week (excluding Tuesdays and Saturdays) and this includes up to 7pm on Thursdays. Collection appointments should be made within four weeks of being notified to avoid fees (£25 per week till collection is booked). We do not offer a storage service.
Do you offer alterations?
We work with an independent seamstress who provides alterations services from our store. With over 30 years experience, you will be in the best hands to make sure your dress fits absolutely perfect! Alterations are not included in the price of your gown so it is important to budget for alterations as a separate service. 99% of brides need alterations to make the dress fit perfectly as dresses are ordered in standard dress sizes.
Can I ask for a copy of my personal information?
